DESCRIPTION:Come to the "Inside Oakland Breakfast Forum" and hear from people who affect the policies and progress of the city in which we live and do business. \n\n\nFriday\, March 19\, 2010\n\n8:30 - 10:00 a.m.\n\nChamber Board Room\n\n\n\nFeatured Speaker: Elihu Harris\, Chancellor of the Peralta Community Colleges\n\n\n\nELIHU HARRIS became Chancellor of the Peralta Community Colleges in 2003.  He has a long history of distinguished public service in the East Bay and California. \n\nHe was the 32nd mayor of the City of Oakland from 1991-99 after serving in the California State Assembly from 1978-90. He chaired legislative committees\, including the Audit Committee and was a member of the Transportation\, Health\, Labor\, and Ways and Means committees\, and the subcommittee on Education.\n\nChancellor Harris will focus his discussion on community colleges\, economic growth\, and how Oakland and its businesses benefit from a well trained and educated workforce.  The four Peralta Community Colleges in Alameda\, Berkeley\, and Oakland provide career technical training in a wide variety of occupational fields as well as prepare students for continuing their higher education at colleges and universities.\n\n\n\n**Admission:  Free to Chamber members\; $10 for non-members.  \n\n\n**RSVP required by Wednesday\, March 17\, 2010.
